Garage doors are the whole job here
Springs, cables, openers, new doors, commercial doors and gates: that is the work, every day, across San Diego County and the Coachella Valley. Here is how we run it and where to find us.
The work
What we do, and for whom
Master Overhead Doors repairs, replaces and installs garage doors, openers and gates for homes and businesses. Our crews handle the everyday failures, such as a snapped spring before the morning commute or an opener that quit with the car inside, and the bigger projects, from a carriage-style replacement on a Spanish revival house to a rolling fire door drop test at a warehouse.
The work is organized around one dispatch line that answers 24 hours a day, and trucks stocked well enough that the first visit is usually the only one. When a door is past saving, we say so, measure the opening and price the replacement standing at your driveway.

Call to cleanup
How a job runs here
Six stages, the same on a 2am emergency and a scheduled replacement.
The call
A dispatcher answers, day or night, and asks what the door is doing. The noise, the angle and the lights usually point to the part.
The window
You get a real arrival window based on where the trucks are, not a vague promise.
The inspection
The tech looks at the whole door system, not just the part that failed, and shows you what wore out.
The price
You hear the price before any tool comes out, with repair and replacement side by side when it is close.
The work
Common springs, cables, rollers and opener parts ride on the truck, so most jobs finish in one visit.
The test and the sweep
Balance, force and reverse tests close out every job, and the old parts leave with us.

Our guides
Who writes our door guides
The Door Guides is written by Gilbert Dorsey, our Overhead Door Guides Editor. Each guide starts from a question callers bring to dispatch, such as what a spring should cost, whether to repair or replace, or what California's battery-backup law means, and answers it in plain language with every cost figure linked to its source.
The guides never walk anyone through adjusting springs or cables, because those parts store enough force to cause serious injury. They do cover the safe checks, the upkeep anyone can do and the questions worth asking before hiring anyone. Read the Door Guides.

Habits
What every visit includes
- Price the job before any work starts, and put repair and replacement side by side when it is close.
- Replace springs in matched pairs and size them to the door's measured weight.
- Balance-test the door and run a reverse-on-contact test before leaving.
- Install battery backup on every residential opener, as California requires.
- Take the old door, springs and parts away and sweep the garage.
- Tell you when a repair is the smarter spend than a new door.
